Registration will Open August 6th and Close Friday October 1st, 2021.
All participants must read and agree to the Waiver (here).
The minimum age for solo competitors is 18 years.
Participants aged 8 years through 17 years may compete in tandem categories with a waiver of liability agreed to by their parent/guardian (here), and must paddle with an adult.
If you are entering in a Tandem Class, please remember to include your partner’s name when you register.
No specific skills will be tested for registration, however it is expected that all participants must :
- be competent in paddling the vessel indicated within their chosen category;
- be in sufficient physical condition and health to participate in the event;
- be competent in self-rescue, first-aid and navigation.
There will be a Insurance fee of $8.00 for each paddler who is not a member of OMCKRA, an OMCKRA sanctioned Club, or a Canoe Kayak Ontario affiliate* Club, at the time of the event.
(*Other affiliate organizations are Ontario Sprint Canoe Racing Association and Whitewater Ontario and their Clubs.)
The GMPE is required to provide OMCKRA with a list of the names of all participants and show the proof of memberships obtained (we will have to be checking).
A Registration fee of $30.00 (+ $8.00 insurance fee if applicable) per participant will include:
A decal for the side of your boat (or top of SUP) showing your participation in the 2021 Virtual Challenge;
After sending us your finishing results you will receive a 2021 GMPE Medallion;
All results will be posted;
And you will eligible for one of our many Draw Prizes.
In the event of Cancellation
If the Challenge is cancelled or postponed as a result of factors beyond the control of the Great Muskoka Paddling Experience, including but not limited to severe weather, war, flood, pandemic, or anything else that may make the event too dangerous for the participants, the Great Muskoka Paddling Experience 2021 Virtual Challenge will be rescheduled to October 15th, 16th and 17th.
Participants will automatically be registered for the new date.
In the event of the Challenge being rescheduled or cancelled indefinitely, no refunds will be issued. Registration fees cannot be transferred to another event. The Great Muskoka Paddling Experience is a non-profit organization with proceeds going to The Muskoka Watershed Council and The Friends of the Muskoka Watershed.
The Great Muskoka Paddling Experience reserves the right to restrict registration of any individual(s) without explanation.
Personal information collected by the GMPE is used to provide services to the participants. These services require administrative responsibilities such as documentation for Insurance provided by OMCKRA.
Private information will never be given out by the GMPE for other reasons
